The Federal Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standards (commonly known as the HUD code) went into effect on June 15, 1976. It is the only federally regulated national building code. The HUD code regulates Manufactured Housing design, construction, strength and durability, transportability, fire resistance, energy efficiency and quality.
